While there are a variety of professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators in international schools, there has not been specific learning opportunities for international educators who want to develop their skills as leaders of adult learning in our schools.
Beginning in June 2011, Education Across Frontiers Sdn Bhd. will offer courses in Kuala Lumpur and Massat, France designed for educators who want to hone their skills as educational leaders - leaders of adult learning. The courses will be developed over time to meet the specific needs of the participants. However at present we envision offering the following.
This workshop was one of the best that I have attended. Bill and Ochan did an excellent job of presenting the material in a way that made it accessible and meaningful..
Bill and Ochan have on two occasions collaborated with the International School of Duesseldorf to provide whole day professional development courses for all of the staff. Their sessions were described by staff members as "inspirational", "engaging", and "full of practical ideas". Many of their suggestions were put straight into use the following Monday morning and continue to be used regularly throughout the school.
Bill and Ochan's style of presentation is one that flows freely between the two presenters, while involving the audience every step of the way. The effects of the workshop are still very noticeable in our classrooms today. Since then I have had many calls for the Powells to return and look forward to the day when they can again enrich my school with their exceptional knowledge and gripping style.
I recommend these two highly skilled professionals without reservation. They have extensive international background, knowledge on a variety of topics relevant to current best practice and excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
Bill and Ochan bring a unique personal style to their work that connects with teachers. It is close and personal. Working in tandem, the presentations move rapidly, engage the participants and model the differentiated design that we are looking for when seeking their help.
For two days, Bill & Ochan worked with the entire secondary school, (seventy teachers) on developing our understanding of differentiation. This was a productive time for our teachers and we now have a common language where referring to the four keys of differentiation. By highlighting the seven norms of collaboration, Bill & Ochan’s visit was invaluable to our staff as we now have frameworks and a shared language to continue to make significant improvements to our teaching and learning practices.

The teachers who attended the workshop at our school left feeling inspired, many of them went away to do further reading and research on some of the material discussed during the workshop. Many were able to utilize their new ideas to transform planning and teaching practices immediately, sharing their new understandings with colleagues. I know that many teachers at that workshop, including myself, will look forward to future opportunities to work with Bill and Ochan.

Bill and Ochan Powell’s Cognitive Coaching workshops provided teachers at our school with valuable tools for supporting colleagues to clarify and solve problems with dignity and self-direction. The workshops were highly interactive, and had a strong research base in the cognitive and behavioural sciences. Bill and Ochan were adept at creating an empathetic and friendly learning environment. We look forward to welcoming them back soon.
